Lao Di Fang Scissors Curry Rice is located in an old corner coffeeshop at the busy junction of Jalan Besar and Kitchener Road.

Originally at the corner of Garden St and Beach Rd, you can have a simple plate of rice with curry gravy, pork chops, braised belly pork, tau pok or fried egg and of course, boiled cabbage.

All these topped by either a brown soya-sauce based gravy, a curry gravy with coconut, or a chilli oil gravy.

Parking can be a problem, usually the side lanes around the area may be good (try Tyrwhitt Rd) and as always go early as there is definitely a long queue.

Enjoy!

Here's one to start... I know someone's favourite nasi padang

Recommended:
Ikan Bakar Padang- This freshly grilled fish will remind any guest of the good old days when fresh fish were caught and grilled on the spot, tapioca leaves grew freely to be picked and made into savoury gravy, and the aroma of belacan sauted to make the perfect sambal filled the air.
Lemak Siput Baba- This dish of shellfish in thick coconut gravy is just one example of the down-to-earth flavours at Hjh Maimunah that Singaporeans and tourists alike will find alluring.
Ayam Bakar Sunda- Grilled chicken wings that are tender and deliciously marinated, and better savoured with a squeeze of lime for that added kick.

Specialities: their traditional dishes such as Padang Ayam Kalio and Ayam Bakar Padang

The start of things to come....

Welcome to the gas-buddies! Where finally we can solve the perpetual question...... Where is the best food in Singapore, (or even JB if u start working in the new KTP Hospital!) when u are on call. I know there are a lot of great foodies out there..... so please contribute generously.

And of course if there are any multi-hospital double blinded randomized controlled trials on who has the best zhi char, nasi padang or italiano cuisine out there, we definitely appreciate evidence based gustatory choices! ; )
